The CFi CardBase 2.0.2 solution was designed to be a contacts card-file database manager. Each contacts database is stored in a separate file, and can contain an unlimited number of cards. You can generate as a lot of contacts databases as you need to. CardBase automatically opens the last-used database on startup and creates a back-up of the database each time you save it.

CardBase has two view options – a standard compact view and an expanded view containing the Contact Browser. The Contact Browser displays icons for each contact in a Windows Explorer-style window. In compact view, alone a menubar and toolbar are visible, but every CardBase option is still accessible from this view.

Finding contacts with CardBase is simple. Just type the first few characters of the contact’s name into the Select Name area until the correct contact is shown, then press Enter. You can also accomplish a full content search of contacts in the current database by entering content into the Detect Contacts area (such as a town or part of a phone number) and pressing Enter.

CardBase uses ‘live’ links to email and internet addresses: a single click will open a internet page in your browser or open your email program’s message window. CardBase will also copy a contact’s name and address to the clipboard ready for pasting into another programm, and can import and export cards in vCard format. You can carry out nearly all these actions in either compact or expanded view without even opening a contact’s card.
